Happy New (School) Year!

Hi Readers,

Even though I’m still really enjoying retirement, I wouldn’t want you to think the Battle of the Books Quiz Center was gone! I just read and finished the quiz for the book, Frindle by Samuel Clements, one of the elementary level books in the 2027 Oregon Battle of the Books elementary level titles. I’m not sure if I will read all the elementary level books and create quizzes for them, but I might. I’m really ready for fall, cool weather, sitting by the fire, drinking mushroom cocoa, and reading good books. So…who knows 🙂

I’m also working on editing, proofreading, and uploading all the quizzes I created in the past thirteen years, and that job is slow and boring. But one day, they’ll all be here, and then I’ll add more brand new ones.

One more bit of news: Quizlet has become even more cool by adding a new game to help readers study a book. It’s called Charms and it looks kind of like Candy Crush. You drag the colored blocks to make matches and then answer multiple choice and fill in the blank questions. The really nice thing is that the ‘fill in the blank’ questions aren’t overly picky. See the example from Frindle:

If I do finish bundles for OBOB, I’ll make those available at discounted prices. I plan to eventually create bundles of quizzes by theme or author. Individual quiz prices will never change: $5 each for elementary level, $8 each for middle school and high school levels. Bundle prices will depend on the quantity of quizzes in the bundle

Each quiz or bundle purchased may be copied or shared for up to five team members to use, unless a school-wide license is purchased which allows for unlimited copying and sharing.

Quizzes may also be shared online in private workspaces with access limited to the team members the quizzes are purchased for, such as Google Classroom, a private website, or privately shared Google folders.
Quizzes may not be:

• Published publicly
• Shared, given away or distributed to anyone other than the team members the quizzes are purchased for.
• Claimed as someone else’s work
• Resold
